Personal Information

These pages, most of which were written by Jerry after his accident and prior to his death, are his view into what happened and what he could do about it.

This is a very private view into the life of a young man who lived that life until the day he went to a better place.

Jerry's Dad

THANKS

I have so many people to thank for all that has been provided to me for my rehabilitation, recovery and well-being, it's very hard to know where to start.

I will do my best to list everyone but let me apologize right here if I miss someone, believe me from the bottom of my heart, it is NOT intentional.

My Parents:

Who have provided so much and want only for me to be the best I can be with the help of God, and ask nothing in return except keep trying and never give up.

My Brothers:

Duke, Darrel, Kevin and Troy, I'm really sorry my attitude wasn't always the best it could have been, I thank you for being as patient as you have been.

My Nieces and Nephews:

David, Stephanie and Michelle, nothing could replace the smiles you have brought to my face as I watch you grow up. A special Thanks to each. Jason, Dustin, Josh and Tiffiny, my older nephews and niece. A special Thanks for being there. I know sometimes you had other things more important to do but still you came. Even my long-distance niece in Arkansas, Shanna, let her uncle know she loved him and wanted him to get well.

My Grandmother:

The Sunday visits, the "bargaining" money (cookies and sweets) to entice my "crew" to provide those extra little services. I love you Mam-Maw.

Although you have now left us mam-maw, you will always be in my thoughts and prayers. I will walk into heaven one day and give you a big hug and kiss.

My Aunts and Uncles:

David and Mary R., Jean Ann, Opal and Jim M., Buddy and Joan H., Jimmy and Chuck Q. (keep them kaloches and pigs coming unc). You always seem to find time for a visit, a smile, a good wish, Thank You.

My Cousins:

To all of my cousins who have asked about me, Thank You. To Neal Q., who took the time to visit me in the hospital shortly after the accident, I appreciated your visit very much. To Audra, my drinking buddy, I always cherish your smile and concern, my sincere Thanks.

My Friends:

To all of my many friends who have asked about me, Thanks for caring. To those friends who have visited me at the hospital, some of whom are Jack and Patty G.,who took the time to even bring prepared meals (man, they can fix good groceries), Chris B.and Ernie G., Jack and Lynn A., Evelyn H., who with my brother Kevin, are my nascar buddies, Jim and Shirley M., Bob and Audra M. (a very SPECIAL THANKS for taking me places like AstroWorld, not to mention the meals you treat me to, you both are special), Tom B., Kenny B., Henry O., David T., Kenny Y., Rance and Brent H., and mom and pop W., THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for what you have done and still do, I am truly blessed with friends like you.

To all of my Father's business associate, friends and customers, I very much appreciate your caring concern and all the prayers on my behalf, words can not express my gratitude, so please accept this simple phase, Thank You and may God Bless You.

Emergency and Hospital Personnel:

To all of the emergency team that kept me alive, words of Thanks seem inadequate but I mean them from the the bottom of my heart, THANKS!

The Santa Fe EMS; UTMB in Galveston and all the many doctors, nurses, aides, hospital personnel and staff that cared for me and assisted my parents and family through this difficult time. Jennie Sealy Rehabilitation Hospital, its doctors, nurses and staff for their assistance to not only my well-being but for the excellent directions given my parents for my care and the programs available to assist them in that regard.

A lot of special people tended to me but I must mention several that made a lasting impression: Drs. Lily C and Sally B; Nurse, Mary Beth J; Social Worker, Keith P;

Assistance Programs:

The TRC (Texas Rehabilitation Commission), Lonnie J, and Susan W. I could say Thanks till the world ended and it still would be not enough for what you have done for me.

I know words are not adequate but please accept my deepest THANKS for the kindness, thoughtfulness, courtesy, compassion, empathy and help you provide me.

Current Rehabilitation:

The Healthsouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Clear Lake, its staff, doctors, nurses, therapists, and transportation; my sincerest THANKS!

To Tom C., a very special Thank You for the help you have provided on my behalf. To my therapists, Thanks for pushing me to excel. To John G., Thanks for putting up with me on the ride to and from. To all the hospital personnel, many Thanks for your kindness and courtesy extended me and my family.

Current Caregiver:

The guy that works with me on a daily basis now is GREAT! He and his wife are both fine people, who I'm proud to say, are my friends.

To Sean S., you are something man. I look forward to seeing you so we can start up a new day, as Dad calls it, the two magpies are at it again. I also want you to know how much it meant to me when you took me, on your day off, to visit friends I hadn't seen in years. Your visits to the hospital when I was under the weather were much appreciated. Man, you are in with my parents, particularly my Dad, who thinks the world of you.

To Marie S., you are absolutely special. To put up with Sean is hard enough, and now you're also putting up with me too. Just a wonderful gal with a personality to match.
