Garden Plants of Jerry's Memorial Garden

The pictures shown represent some of the "special" or more "unusual" plants of Jerry's garden. New plants will be highlighted for a short time before they join the many shown here. Updates of this page will occur whenever new plants are placed in Jerry's Memorial Garden.

The Monarch Butterfly Caterpillar with its black and yellow stripes adheres to the bottom of the milkweed plant leaf, its source of nutrition.

Jerry's garden has been blessed with an abundance of these caterpillars since it was started. Soon it will be a Monarch Butterfly.

The Purple Angel's Trumpet Bush tree. A compact version of the Angel's Trumpet tree that reside in various locations in Jerry's garden.

Beautiful outer trumpet of purple, white full flower with purple center pod. A special plant for a special child.

The Zinnia. The Zinnia "patch," a  backdrop to the Virgin Mary statue and a gift from a dear friend, is just beautiful with all its many colors.

Pinks, purples , reds...colors, colors, colors everywhere. Just spectacular this year.

The Texas Star Hibiscus. Well folks, didn't you know a Texas garden couldn't be without a hibiscus with a Texas name.

Simply beautiful with its burgundy color, seashell like leaves and slender greenery to highlight it.

The Shell Vine. This plant adorns some of the fence area around Jerry's Garden. Beautiful green foliage with its purple flowers...they look like seashells when viewed closely.

Truly unique, a very interesting addition to the ever-growing selection of plants in Jerry's Garden..

The Butterfly with all its grace and beauty. I love to see the butterflies throughout the garden...I think of Jerry at the mere sight of this graceful creature of God.

So beautiful, so fragile, sheer beauty in flight. Absolutely beautiful.

The Avocado Tree. Talk about a beautiful addition to Jerry's Garden. This tree is stunning with graceful rippled green leaves, a compliment to the walking iris below and plumbago adjacent.

What a wonder to behold. If this doesn't make you think of the Almighty, nothing will.

The Milkweed Plant. A very colorful plant with its reddish-orange and yellow flowers. Several grace various areas of the garden.

Butterflies galore love this plant. The Monarch butterfly lays its eggs in this plant. We have been blessed with many, many Monarch butterflies and others this year, as they traverse Jerry's garden locating their "feeding station," the milkweed plant.

The Walking Iris with its spreading long green spikes and dainty white flowers is a wonderful addition to a corner spot in Jerry's Garden.

The picture simply does not do this plant justice...it is very nice to see.

The Red Mallow Hibiscus flower is just as beautiful as its neighbor, the Pink Mallow. Large and graceful petals with a deep red color in the center and slightly lighter as the color moves out.

I truly believe Jerry would have loved this gorgeous plant.

The Pink Mallow Hibiscus flower is just beautiful. A large and graceful flower with white and purple shades of color, simply stunning...the plant is loaded with these beautiful flowers.

Jerry must have a special interest in this gorgeous beauty.

The Orchid Cactus. This picture simply does not do justice to such a gorgeous succulent that will make its presence known in Jerry's Garden.

Many hanging baskets, with plants selected for their beauty and elegance, are all around Jerry's Memorial Garden. This is but one more.

My great-granddaughter. Another picture of one of my great-granddaughter's a year later. A young beauty enhancing the bluebonnet area of Uncle Jerry's Garden.

A proud great-grandparent just couldn't pass up another opportunity.

This planting bed contains liriope, lemon balm, verbena, plumeria, marigold, princess flower, peach tree, bachelor buttons and several more that escape my memory at the moment.

Colors, textures and varieties, just about anything that presents style and grace is here.

This planting bed contains mexican heather, palms, copper plants, elephant ears, banana trees with bananas, cleome; to mention just a few.

So much to see, so few ways to capture it all. A leisurely evening stroll through Jerry's Garden is all the medicine you need.

The Crepe Mrytle. The red and white crepe with a background of purple and green. The large elephant ears to the left provide just enough to accent the colors that surround this plant.

A beautiful setting for such a lovely plant. It is a stunning addition to Jerry's Garden.

The Plumeria The delicate pastel colors of red, yellow and white stand out amid the lush green foliage.

To see the fragile beauty of the flowers that grace these plants is really something.

The Plumeria Flowers. The gorgeous green foliage provides a beautiful setting for the dainty plumeria flower petals...pastel colors of red, yellow and white grace Jerry's garden.

Although hard to see in a picture but a pleasure to observe in nature.

Aztec Lily. The red petals of this beautiful lily offer bright color contrast to the green foliage of the plants contained in this walkway bed.

We hope to have many more of this delicate plant grace the beds of Jerry's Garden.

The hidden Ginger. I don't know exactly where the words "hidden" came from but we exhibit this beautiful plant in the main entrance to Jerry's Memorial Garden for all to see.

The color is absolutely gorgeous to see up close.

Cascading Red Rose. The red petals of this beautiful rose offer brilliant color to the rose garden section of the memorial garden that is devoted to Jerry's beloved grandmother and grandfather.

A very large focal point in the rose garden.

The yellow Daylily. Words and pictures simply do not do justice to this absolutely gorgeous flower specimen. One of several daylilies that exhibit their beauty to visitors to Jerry's Garden.

The large banana trees offer some shade from the hot afternoon Texas sun.

Red and White Crepe Myrtle. The red and white crepe myrtle with its abundant color and foliage, offer a beautiful background to the large elephant ear plants with their tremendous green leaves.

A tired body can quickly be "jump-started" with a walk through this garden.

The double red Bougainvillea. An absolutely exquisite flower to see. They provide a stark contrast to the beautiful plants that rise about it.

The plant with its beautiful flowers adorns the center bed adjacent to the main walkway of Jerry's beloved garden.

Crepe Myrtle and Angel Trumpets.  The purple crepe myrtle provide a beautiful backdrop for the golden angel trumpets that are about to lift their music to heaven.

Truly a joy to behold in all its splendor and splash of color.

The red orchid cactus. This picture just doesn't do justice to this absolutely gorgeous plant.

The light wasn't working with me but I'll try again to reproduce the grandeur of this beautiful specimen that hangs in the pavilion of Jerry's Garden.

The iris beds.  The Iris bed is starting to fill with color. The placement of these beds between the entrance bridges to Jerry's Garden offer just a touch of color to the many that are a part of Jerry's special place, his Garden.

I can't wait to see the magnificent display of color these plants will display.

My great-granddaughter. I couldn't resist this picture when one of my great-granddaughter's decided she wanted to grace the bluebonnet area of Uncle Jerry's Garden.

Although the sun was a little bright, a proud great-grandparent just couldn't pass up this golden opportunity.

The iris.  The Iris will be a concentrated planting of all colors, from blues to whites to reds. They stand up tall as you cross the main bridge to enter Jerry's Garden.

The iris bed will provide beautiful entrance color to catch the eye as you enter this beautiful place.

The bluebonnets. One of several  wildflowers that will display their beautiful colors in various beds that are part of Jerry's Garden.

Their time to shine is now and the splendor is just beautiful to see and experience. The wildflowers of Texas don't exhibit for long but when they do, it's worth the wait.

The amaryllis.  Now beginning to open and radiate the most beautiful colors. The red amaryllis shown is absolutely gorgeous.

The amaryllis is one of the many bulb plants that are in Jerry's Garden. They surely will be a highlight of the Garden in their time of beauty.

The gloriosa lily. One of many varieties of plants that will grace the planting beds of the Garden of Faith, Hope and Love. The Garden will be devoted to all of God's creatures, from the fish in the sea to people.

This "hands on" experience of the visitors to this beautiful place will make all the work necessary to present it, well worthwhile.

The angel's trumpet. One of many species of trees that will grace the planting beds of the Garden of Faith, Hope and Love. What better plant to herald the entrance to the Garden of Faith, Hope and Love.

The many plants, trees and statuary that will adorn this beautiful place should be a site for sore eyes to see and enjoy.

The amarantha. One of several varieties of plants that will provide color in the planting beds of the Garden of Faith, Hope and Love. The plants will be spectacular in their beauty, colors and fragrances.

To experience the beauty of nature is the goal of this beautiful place.

The verbena. One of many perennials that will exhibit color and ground cover throughout the Garden.

This particular spot is exquisite with the beautiful red verbena spreading out under the rainbow of colors the plumeria will present.

The yesterday, today and tomorrow. An absolutely beautiful bush that will grow quite large displaying petals of purple (yesterday), lavender (today), white (tomorrow).

The varieties of plants available in the Garden of Faith, Hope and Love will delight the eye as well as the nostril.

The Orchid Cactus. An absolutely gorgeous succulent that will make its presence known in this beautiful place.

Hanging baskets will grace many areas with plants selected for their beauty and elegance. This is but one of many to come.

The multi-color amarantha. The picture doesn't do it justice.

Jerry's memorial will be surrounded by this colorful plant, along with the other two colors. He loved these and will be right in the middle of a special area devoted to him and his beloved plants.

The deep purple amarantha lines the walk to the pavilion.

As mentioned above, Jerry will have a very special place in his beloved garden, completely surrounded by the plants he loved. His memorial placement will be presented on his website in the near future.

The marigold and mexican heather are absolutely gorgeous.

The birds and butterflies abound in this beautiful place. Such a peaceful place to just enjoy nature and the wonder of God all around you.

Although a little hard to see, the Morning Glory tree stands tall above the gazing ball joined by the beautiful cleome bush and zinnias.

Come visit Jerry in his beloved Garden of Faith, Hope and Love anytime.

The hibiscus bed is slowly growing and will eventually cover its garden location completely.

The colors and textures of these beautiful plants are simply gorgeous. Next spring should offer beauty this eye is waiting to behold.

The absolutely beautiful blue flowers of the sweet pea vine are something to behold.

Jerry's beloved garden is going to be something to see. I can just feel his presence when we relax and work in his garden.

The elephant ear plants, one of my favorites, have simply "exploded" in their portion of Jerry's garden.

Look carefully and you can see the flower of the elephant ear just before it opens. The pale yellow right in the middle of the large elephant ear plant.

One of the most exquisite plants in Jerry's garden is the starfish flower. The picture just does not do it justice.

We are trying hard to have a very large assortment of "unusual" plants carefully entwined with the more typical plants, flowers and trees. My anticipation of the beauty that will unfold in the spring is almost over-powering.

The spider lily plant, the light colored red plant in the left corner of the picture, is a beauty of nature.

Starting with the bulb, it extends a thin stem and flowers into a very delicate arrangement of leaves to show its beauty. The indian hawthorne and hibiscus plants just set it perfectly.

His legacy will continue...his beloved garden will flourish...we will make every attempt to bring his dreams to fruition.
