Garden Pavilion of Jerry's Memorial Garden

The pictures shown represent the "construction" of the central pavilion in Jerry's Memorial Garden. A place to get out of the hot Texas sun in the summer and a place to enjoy the cool evening breezes of approaching fall. Updates of this page will occur whenever new plants and photos of pavilion changes take place in Jerry's Memorial Garden.

Current View of the Pavilion

The Pavilion, the focal point of Jerry's Garden, provides a relaxing place to rest after working in his garden. Just sit and enjoy nature with the cool Gulf breezes to wipe your brow.

It is impossible to sit in the middle of this beautiful place and not see Jerry's smiling face.

The bridge, one of three, provide the crossover from our everyday routine to see the beauty of the Almighty and visit our beloved Son.

Tears of sorrow at our loss but smiles of joy when we work and rest in this beautiful Garden just knowing how much Jerry loved this place.

Pavilion Structure

The following pictures show how the Pavilion or Garden Shelter, the central point in Jerry's Garden came to be. Although hampered by bad weather for quite some time, the project finally was completed.

The corner posts for the Garden Shelter are now in place. The rest of the building materials will be delivered to the site shortly.   The roofing and underground conduits are to be installed shortly.

This beautiful place will allow folks who normally would not have a place to visit and enjoy the outdoors, their place in the sun.

The roof covering is almost finished. The underground water, electrical and communications conduits are now installed. The eave soffit and the interior wiring will follow shortly.

Arrangements are underway to have hospitals, nursing homes and rehabilitation centers bring their patients for an outing.

FINALLY! We got some good weather. The concrete forms for the walks and pavilion floor are in place.

The Garden layout is slowly coming into focus. The 4 foot wide walks will provide easy access for all to visit and enjoy the beauty of life and nature in this beautiful place.

The good Lord held off the rain allowing the concrete work to be completed. The forms have been removed and the area is really starting to shape up.

The pavilion will house everything necessary to "live broadcast" from the Garden of Faith, Hope and Love.

Pavilion Plants

The plants shown below are some of the plants that make up the four beds or Pavilion planting beds, that surround the Garden Shelter. Updates will occur whenever new plants and changes occur.

The exquisite yellow Alamanda, absolute beauty of its large yellow flowers and dark green foliage.

The Alamanda is flanked on both sides by golden yellow marigolds that have spread out over the walkway. The picture does not do the plant justice.

The ornamental pepper plant will soon offer quite a color contrast to the absolutely gorgeous golden marigold planting that overflows this side of the pavilion.

I know this sounds redundant but Jerry's Garden is truly a place of Faith, Hope and Love.

One of the pavilion beds is now starting to exhibit the beautiful candy-strip amaryllis.

This pavilion bed is planted with several varieties of Amaryllis and should be something to see in the near future. Almost in the center of the picture is the gorgeous red orchid cactus flower; one of many hanging baskets in the pavilion.

Pictures simply do not do justice to the planting beds around the pavilion.

So many beautiful plants reside there, I have trouble remembering the names.

The beds around the pavilion have really taken off.

The beds are full of geraniums, daisies, marigolds, in fact, so many plants I can't think of all of the names at the moment.

The pavilion perimeter planting is now complete. Some of the plant varieties are: Irises, Kalanchoe, Amaryllis, Ferns, Coleus, Ice Plants, English Daisies, Geraniums, Tai Plant, Miniature Rose, Daffodil, Gerbera Daisy, and Hyacinths are just a few of the colorful plants that will enclose the pavilion area.

The three "bridges" that will allow access to the Garden of Faith, Hope and Love should be started today and additional pictures will provide insight into how they look.

I'm very excited about what is being done in the Garden. I can't wait to "broadcast" from the Pavilion and show everyone how it looks "live." Stay tuned.

Another view of the pavilion from a different angle.

Although the plants are small now, the choices should provide an abundance of color all year long.

The three "bridges" are now installed providing access to the Garden area.

The site is going to be absolutely gorgeous when the plants get growing. There are ten planting beds, each with a different theme and plants to set off the area.

The tai plant, with its large purple leaves will anchor the corners of the pavilion, adding contrasting as well as complimentary colors to the pavilion plants.

The pavilion planting is coming along nicely with updates to show their growth coming regularly.

The planting beds, all ten of them, are beginning to take shape.

The bed on either side of the stepping stones is the vegetable bed, which contains tomatoes, squash, bell, banana, jalapeno peppers, beans, for starters.

Two of the beds have the statuary in place. One is religious, showing the Mother of Jesus. The other shows the dolphin representing the seas and the creatures in them.

Bluebonnets, daylilies, hibiscus, spider lilies, candlestick tree, citrus tree, bromeliads, celosia, cleome, phlox, dianthus to mention a few.

His legacy will continue...his beloved garden will flourish...we will make every attempt to bring his dreams to fruition.
